Sandcastle Demo Hub

What the Sandcastle demo includes
Bubblebird Studio and Future Friends Games released the first Sandcastle demo on Steam on August 6, 2026. The demo is a self-contained slice of the upcoming cozy physics sandbox: you build sandcastles on tropical shores, watch tides reshape your work, and collect shore treasures without timers or score pressure. The full game remains to be announced on Steam and is not released yet.
This hub collects everything you need to install the demo, compare it with planned full-game content, and jump into the two playable beaches: Base Beach and Barrier Beach.
Demo beaches and systems
The demo ships with Base and Barrier layouts. Both use the same core simulation—sand compacts under pressure, moisture changes stability, and waves pool and erode walls realistically—but each shoreline presents different spacing, water exposure, and carving room. If you are new, start with How to Play for a calm first session, then read Protect From the Tide before your first high tide.
Tools in the demo mirror the full game’s crafting loop at a smaller scale. You can gather wet sand, raise towers, carve battlements, dig moats, and embellish builds with shells, driftwood, pebbles, and seaweed washed ashore. Starfish collectibles unlock beach customization options such as sand type and layout settings—see Starfish Collectibles for how that progression works in the demo.
Bubblebird Studio also announced hermit crabs and fish as upcoming shore life for the full game—browse Creatures Hub and treat them as flavor to look for in sessions when the roster expands, not as confirmed demo staples unless your patch notes say otherwise.
Why try the demo first
The demo is the safest way to judge whether Sandcastle fits your play style before wishlisting the full release. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck through Steam, with a mouse-only control option for relaxed sessions. There is no multiplayer; every build is a single-player sandbox.
Use Demo Download for install steps and storage notes. Demo vs Full Game explains which beaches, tools, and features are demo-only versus planned for the roughly ten beach layouts in the full game (lagoon, island, delta, atoll, and more). For day-one patch notes, read Demo Launch Update.
